SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: At 0558 hours, officers of the St Johnsbury Police Department responded to an alarm activation at 1216 Railroad Street in St Johnsbury. Responding officers found the Kingdom Crust and Aquarealm had been burglarized. A brief investigation led to a foot pursuit by the responding officer and the subsequent arrest of Shawn Boyd, 51 of St Johnsbury. Boyd was charged with two counts of Burglary, two counts of Petit larceny form a building, two counts of Unlawful Mischief as well as Habitual Offender. Boyd was held on 2500 dollars bail and will appear on Monday February 28 at 1230 hours to answer the charges.

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

On February 26, 2022 at about 0053 hours, the St. Johnsbury Police Department received a phone call from a concerned citizen regarding a man unconscious behind the wheel of a running car at the Maplefields gas station. Officers responded and a further investigation revealed that the operator, Brian Miller, displayed signs of impairment by a substance other than alcohol. Miller was arrested for suspicion of DUI – Drugs and a Drug Recognition Expert Exam was obtained with the help of Vermont State Police and an evidentiary blood draw completed. Miller was released to a sober adult with a citation into Caledonia Superior Court on May 16, 2022 at 0830 hours.

On 02/26/2022, St. Johnsbury Police responded to 114 Maple Street in the Town of St. Johnsbury for a report of a male and female arguing. Upon arrival, Corporal Hartwell made contact with Dylan Stapelfeld. Stapelfeld was taken into custody for violating a condition of release not to consume alcohol. Stapelfeld actively resisted being taken into custody and was also charged with resisting arrest. He was lodged at the Northeast Regional Correctional Facility as an incapacitated person.

On February 23, 2022 at about 0346 hours, the St. Johnsbury Police Department received a phone call from a concerned citizen regarding activity at a nearby elderly woman’s apartment. Nicolas Balch was located and arrested for being in violation of conditions of release as to a court ordered curfew. Balch was brought back to the police station where he was released on a flash citation per the Honorable Court, to answer the charge in Caledonia Superior Court at 1330 pm February 23, 2022.
