Summary of Incident:
On April 04, 2019, Officer Robert Gerrish stopped a Chevrolet Cavalier for motor vehicle violations on Federal Street in St. Johnsbury. As the vehicle pulled into a private driveway, the passenger immediately fled the scene heading on foot towards Route 5. During a search of the area, a cache of property consisting of electronic media, was located hidden along the path from which the subject fled. The driver, Mr. Damion Gage, Age 27, was issued a variety of civil violation complaints and the vehicle was towed. Summary of Incident:
On April 04, 2019, Officer Robert Gerrish stopped a motor vehicle on Main Street near Frost Avenue for a suspected motor vehicle violation. Investigation revealed that the operator, Joshua R. Comeau, was driving while his privilege to operate a motor vehicle was criminally suspended and had violated conditions of release twice both by possessing alcohol and operating a motor vehicle. In addition, Comeau did not have a driver’s license and had been previously convicted civilly of driving without a license in the past 2 years. Comeau was arrested and cited into Caledonia Superior Court, Criminal Division for initial appearance on May 20, 2019 regarding the foregoing charges.

On March 25, 2019, the St. Johnsbury Police Department received a complaint of an intoxicated driver leaving Lyndonville’s McDonalds and traveling towards St. Johnsbury. Subsequent to a traffic stop for a motor vehicle violation, investigation revealed that <EXPUNGED> was operating under the influence of alcohol. <EXPUNGED> was taken into custody for suspicion of driving under the influence. <EXPUNGED> was cited into Caledonia Superior Court, Criminal Division for initial appearance on April 15, 2019 for DUI #1.

19SJ000900 - Search Warrant

                                    03/11/2019

CASE OFFICER: Officer Steven Hartwell

On 03/11/2019 at approximately 1715 hours, The St. Johnsbury Police Department executed a search warrant at 18 Spring Street in the Town of St. Johnsbury. The purpose of the search warrant was to locate and take into custody Shawn Rich (DOB 04/20/1978) and Steven Simonds (DOB 02/07/1978). Both men had active warrants for their arrest and been evading police.

Simonds was located in an upstairs apartment and taken into custody. We were advised by a tenant of the house that the house was a former civil war Underground Railroad site and that we would not be able to find Rich. After a short search Rich was located in a homemade crawl space inside of an upstairs closet. Also located in the crawl space was a sleeping bag and a jar half full of urine.

Both men were lodged at Northeast Regional Correctional Facility. <EXPUNGED> the owner of the residence and Rich’s girlfriend was cited In Caledonia Court to answer to charges of Resisting Arrest, False Information to a Law Enforcement Officer and Hindering. Rich Was cited for Resisting Arrest, both Rich and <EXPUNGED>  will appear in court on 04/29/2019.

A St. Johnsbury Police Officer was bit by a dog in the residence while taking <EXPUNGED> into custody. He was treated for a minor puncture wound at NVRH and released.
