The report was alleged to have happened at The Fairbank’s Inn located at 401 Western Avenue in St. Johnsbury while both the victim and the accused were guests. On 06/25/2020, after investigation Jerry Watts 63 of St. Johnsbury was taken into custody and charged with the crime. He is scheduled to appear in Caledonia Court on 10/05/2020 to answer to the charge.

On 06/27/2020 at approximately 8:00 PM, St. Johnsbury Police responded to 34 Oak Street in the Town of St. Johnsbury for a report of a male that was stabbed. Upon arrival we located a 24 year old male with a laceration to his face. The parties responsible for the assault fled the scene in a late model Chevrolet Malibu reported to have Virginia plates. The occupants were reported to be 3 African American males with a white female operator. A St. Johnsbury Police Officer observed a Dodge Journey being driven without license plates on Hastings Hill. The vehicle did not stop despite the activation of emergency equipment (blue lights and sirens). The vehicle continued through the Four Seasons neighborhood being pursued by St. Johnsbury Police units until it parked in the driveway of [EXPUNGED]. The driver of the vehicle, Steven Simonds (42) also had conditions of release prohibiting him from driving with a suspended license and was arrested for the above charges. Simonds will face the charges in Caledonia Superior Court on September 21, 2020 at 0830.

*Update*

On 06/20/2020 [EXPUNGED] was cited for Violation of Conditions of Release (2 Counts) from this incident. [EXPUNGED] was found to be out after his court order curfew and in possession of a controlled substance without a valid prescription. He will also appear in Caledonia Court on 09/21/2020, to answer to the charges.

Subsequently he was arrested after he was found to be operating without a license after receiving two traffic tickets for the same. Utley was also issued a Vermont Civil Violation Complaint for consuming Alcohol while driving. A minor in the vehicle was also cited into family court after he was found to have consumed alcohol. Utley will answer to the charge on 09/21/2020 in Caledonia Court. A third person will be cited for supplying the alcohol to the minor and update will be done when that information is available.

Further investigation revealed the passenger, Melinda Sylvester of St. Johnsbury had an active felony warrant on original charges of cocaine & heroin possession ($1,000 bail) as well as a Vermont Department of Corrections Return on Mittimus for 30 days of jail time owed. Both parties were arrested and transported to the police department for processing. Bradley will face his charges in Caledonia Superior Court on September 21, 2020 at 0830 and Sylvester was lodged at the Northeast Regional Correctional Facility.
